The WRRB is pleased to announce the release of their 2020 calendar! This year’s theme is ‘winged things’ and includes photos from both professional and hobbyist photographers of species found in Wek'èezhìı. The photos were selected from a pool sent in after a call for submissions over the summer of 2019. The remainder of the photos that were not obtained from submissions were pulled from creative commons so that a variety of species found in Wek'èezhìı could be featured. Some of the species included, such as the Kw'ıahnǫ (bumble bees) and Dłı̨ą k'et'à (bats), face challenges that have been highlighted in the calendar. The intention is to share facts about some of the species in Wek’èezhìı, but also to continue to raise awareness about the challenges they face and how vital they are to our ecosystems. If you are interest in picking up one of the WRRB’s free calendars, please stop by the office in the Denendeh Manor, in Yellowknife. There are limited quantities so get them before they are gone!
